Responsible municipal leadership means far more than simply promising lower taxes. Property taxes are a real and visible cost for homeowners and businesses, yet municipal budgets must balance infrastructure, emergency services, roads, water systems, recreation, salaries, debt, and many other essential needs many of which rise due to provincial requirements, inflation, or long-term capital demands beyond council’s direct control.

Residents rightly want reasonable taxes and reliable services, so the true challenge is balancing affordability with sustainability through fiscal discipline, transparency, and sound decision-making. The most responsible promise is not that taxes will always fall, but that every taxpayer dollar will be treated with respect and that decisions will remain responsible long after the campaign signs come down.
